44 Universities Lost Deemed Status List of De-recognised Deemed Universities

Government told the Supreme Court that it decided to De-recognise 44  Deemed Universities in the country on charges that they were being run as an organizations, owned or controlled by one family, rather than on academic considerations.

The task force has recommended that the 44 deemed universities which are to be de-recognised “should revert status quo ante as an affiliated college of the state university of jurisdiction so that students would be able to complete their ongoing courses and obtain degree from the affiliating university.

According to the Centre, most of the 44 erring deemed universities were offering post-graduate and undergraduate courses that are “fragmented with concocted nomenclatures”  and seats “disporortionately” increased beyond the actual intake capacity.

How to Dress for an Interview

The First Impression –The Most Important One
Candidates for jobs wearing jeans, purple sweat suits, and spike heels or sneakers. Other applicants weren't afraid to show pierced body parts , spiked hair & Tatoos. Still others chewed gum or showed up in rumpled clothes or with their pants falling down. One recruiter even told a candidate with his trousers down below his hips, to "Pull your pants up."
The first impression you make on a potential employer is the most important one. The first judgment an interviewer makes is going to be based on how you look and what you are wearing. That's why it's always important to dress professionally for a job interview, even if the work environment is casual.
What's the appropriate dress code for an interview? You'll want that first impression to be not just a good one, but, a great one. The candidate dressed in a suit and tie is going to make a much better impression than the candidate dressed in scruffy jeans and a t-shirt.

How to Dress for an Interview:
Men's Interview Attire
• Suit (solid color - navy or dark grey)
• Long sleeve shirt (white or coordinated with the suit)
• Belt
• Tie
• Dark socks, conservative leather shoes
• Neat, professional hairstyle
• Clean shaven
• Limit the aftershave
• Neatly trimmed nails
• Portfolio file with documents properly organized

Women's Interview Attire:
• Suit (navy, black or dark grey)
• The suit skirt should be long enough so you can sit down comfortably
• Coordinated blouse
• Conservative shoes
• Limited jewelry (no dangling earrings or arms full of bracelets)
• Professional hairstyle
• Light make-up and perfume
• Neatly manicured clean nails
• Portfolio file with documents properly organized

What Not to Bring to the Interview:
• Gum
• Cell phone
• Ipod
• Cover tattoos

Interview Attire Tips:
• Before you even think about going on an interview, make sure you have appropriate interview attire and everything fits correctly.
• Get your clothes ready the night before, so you don't have to spend time getting them ready on the day of the interview.
• If your clothes are dry clean only, take them to the cleaners after an interview, so they are ready for next time.
• Polish your shoes.
• Bring a breath mint and use it before you enter the building.

Good news for OBC students, 4.5% quota in IITs

There is good news for IIT aspirants from the minority community. The IIT-JEE Admission Committee has decided to implement 4.5 per cent reservation for them within the 27 per cent seats meant for the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) from this year.

Those minority candidates who had submitted the application forms online and have not mentioned their status can do so on the IIT-JEE website — http://jee.iitd.ac.in/obcminority.php — by giving an undertaking that they have a minority status and would submit the certificate before the exam on April 8.
The undertaking has to be given to the respective zonal offices before March 20.

IIT-JEE Chairman G.B. Reddy said the application forms did not carry this information as this development was recent. He asked the students to submit the undertaking first and later submit the certificate to claim reservation. “We are giving enough time for candidates to secure the certificate. Non-submission of certificate will result in candidates not being considered for the category as a separate list will be prepared, he said.

It is for the State government to decide who fits in the minority category and certificate issued by the tehsildar concerned will be valid.

Following the reservation, around 430 minority candidates are likely to get admission in the 17 IITs across the country going by last year's figure of total 9,500 odd seats.
Professor Reddy said the final figure would be available after March 25, when the IITs have been asked to submit the list of availability of seats. Some IITs increase the seats and some others introduce new programmes. IIT-Hyderabad has written to the JEE Chairman that it will start two new programmes this year — Civil Engineering and Engineering Science, with 25 seats each.

So far 5,07,607 applications have been received by the IITs, slight increase from last year's figure. But the final number may change as some candidates have applied in two zones, while some others have failed to provide the necessary documents. We are writing to all such candidates to choose the zone they wish to appear in and also submit the documents immediately. The variation may not be huge,” Professor Reddy said.

Kanpur zone saw maximum applicants this year. Madras zone received about 78,000 applications. Last year, Bombay zone received the maximum applications. “We have altered the allocation of cities, where exam will be held, to different zones to ensure equal workload, he said.

India's Top 40 MBA Colleges, 2013

Students across India consider an MBA degree from an IIM as a sure shot ticket to an exceptional corporate career. However the race to get in to the IIMs is tough and statistics of success rates are against most of these bright eyed aspirants. The year 2012 saw approximately 2.14 lakh applicants battled it out to secure a coveted spot among the 3500 seats in the 13 IIMs. The odds are tough to beat.

So is it the end of the road for an MBA aspirant if they do not bag a seat into an IIM? No. This is where we step in. CKSINFOTECH is here to present the 4th edition of the "What if not IIMs" B-Schools Survey 2013, to focus on evaluating non-IIM B Schools in India. This unique observation helps MBA aspirants make an informed choice about the note worthy B-Schools which are giving the IIMs a run for their money. Doing an in-depth research CKSINFOTECH has uncovered some of the best Indian B Schools and their evolutionary journey to become top business learning centers within a short span of time. Although being relatively new when compared to most of the IIMs, these new entrant B-schools are already creating entrepreneurs, innovators and corporate heroes par excellence. Our objective is to highlight such institutions which are arming students to create successful careers for themselves.

Including an exhaustive blue print elucidating the ideas about Business Schools in India the survey will also foster a healthy competition among the colleges to attract the best talent. The survey also represents the viewpoints of several renowned business leaders who have graduated from non IIM B-Schools. The ranking parameters include placement, Academic excellence, Infrastructure, education, faculty, intellectual capital and so on. We hope our effort to create this comprehensive ranking of B-Schools will help the student community to broaden their horizons and grasp opportunities beyond the IIMs.

We hope this initiative proves to a beneficial one for you!
